In September 2025, several members of the Interfaith4Palestine core leadership came together for a strategy session. Our goal was to clearly identify what role an intentionally and explicitly interfaith coalition in the Bay Area should play in the evolving movement towards a permanent ceasefire and a liberated Palestine. After mapping out the landscape, our partners, our base, and the existing and upcoming campaigns in the area, we discerned that our values aligned with – and we could have the greatest impact on – the following campaigns that now guide our organizing.
Alameda County Ethical Investment Policy
Following the lead of Bay Area Divest! (BAD!) campaign leadership, we have mobilized people of faith around Alameda County for the purpose of supporting the Treasurer Levy’s Ethical Investment Policy in Alameda County. You can learn more about our specific efforts and calls to action for people of faith to support this campaign here.
Boycott Chevron
“The Boycott Chevron campaign follows in the footsteps of the anti-apartheid gas station boycotts against Shell, a campaign that impacted Shell’s share of the UK gas market and advanced major divestment wins that catalyzed the end of South African apartheid.”
~ Christians for a Free Palestine
Chevron has a long history of funding and literally fueling Israel’s apartheid and now genocide in Palestine. As people of faith, we cannot remain quiet while an entity like Chevron, which is also a key contributor to our growing global climate crisis, profits from war and genocide. You can learn more about our efforts to support this campaign at the local level – and resources to educate and invite your faith communities into faithful boycott – here.
Oakland People’s Arms Embargo
Interfaith for Palestine recently endorsed the Oakland People’s Arms Embargo, organized by The Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM), Arab Resource and Organizing Center Action (AROC Action), and the US Palestinian Community Network (USPCN).
Our faith traditions all share a reverence for life that calls on us to demand an end to not only the genocide in Palestine, but an end to the US government’s supplying of deadly weaponry to the Israeli military that is causing it. Here in Oakland, we have a clear pathway to stopping that supply by demanding the Oakland City Council, Oakland Mayor, and Oakland Port Authority cease all military cargo shipments to Israel.
