Sign the Petition to Carla Betts by November 8!
As part of Interfaith for Palestine’s commitment to divest from war and invest in life, we invite you and your faith community to support this local effort that is part of the growing Chevron Boycott campaign. If you live, work, pray, or play in Oakland, please consider joining in this action.
We are asking people of faith to sign this petition to Carla Betts, owner of multiple Oakland Chevron franchise gas stations. We are also asking for your help in publicizing the boycott within your community, encouraging both individuals and your organization to sign the petition.
Why Boycott Chevron?
Israel’s genocidal war cannot run without power from Chevron. As Israel obliterates hospitals, homes, universities, cropland, and UN schools in Gaza, and continues destruction in the West Bank, Chevron supplies the energy, operating two major Israeli-claimed fossil gas fields in the Mediterranean.
This global boycott is sinking roots in East Bay organizing, reaching out to local Chevron franchise owners. The goal is to get station owners to communicate with Chevron that Chevron’s continued involvement in powering the Israeli war machine is putting them at odds with their customer base.

Oakland’s Boycott Chevron Campaign
Our immediate efforts are focused on Carla Betts, owner of three Oakland franchise stations. With the help of the many members of Interfaith 4 Palestine, we believe we may persuade Ms. Betts to sign this letter to the CEO of Chevron. Our campaign has already succeeded in getting three franchise owners – in Florida and Alabama – to sign this letter demanding Chevron’s cancellation of contracts with Israel and an end to the reputational and economic risks of complicity in grave human rights violations.
We aim to bring this petition to Carla Betts before the West Coast Coordinated Chevron Boycott Action on November 22. We will need to gather signatures quickly, setting November 8th as OUR deadline to collect and process the data to present to Ms Betts for this initial approach.
We shared more about this campaign at our November 6 “Divest from War” Webinar, which you can watch and access resources from here. The local Boycott Chevron organizers are also available to answer any questions you may have about the campaign, and are happy to supply educational materials, petition hard copies, and speakers to come to your communities! You can reach them at climate-action@eastbaydsa.org.
